It may be that I have to add some sort of timeout though, although the exact length is trickier some cameras take a very long time to download images. SharpCap 3.3 will have better support for running the camera in still camera mode, and also better support for cancelling frames. Bug report submitted multiple times using the build in send version. However this randomly crashes the whole sharpcap software every few minutes. With the 32-bit version, I can connect to my Nikon Z6 camera through backyardEOS.

First tried the 64-bit, but this did not work at all. If things are freezing up for you it's probable that neither of these are happening, meaning that SharpCap's capture thread will end up in a loop waiting for the frame that it thinks will become available shortly. Bought the software for the polar aligment feature.

It does have options to change the logging level within the DSLR driver setup window – maybe that would help diagnose what is going wrong when things appear to freeze up.Ĭurrently SharpCap assumes that once it has asked the driver for a frame to be captured then the driver will perform its part of the bargain – that is capture a frame or report an error. The DSLR driver is certainly something that is still evolving and stabilising – it's much easier to use now than it was a year or so ago, but it still has some rough corners.
